June 2022 Inbox Inspiration

I'm just gonna jump right in this month, because quite honestly, pleasantries feel indulgent

these days. By all accounts, the world is an utter mess. The news is not good. The pain and suffering is suffocating. Over-used terms like dumpster fire and shit show spring to mind. When life feels like chaos, it's important to pause and assess your basic needs. So I'm checking in...How are you doing? Are you getting fresh air? Are you sleeping enough? Drinking enough water? Moving your body? Do you have the tools and support systems you need? Remember to take care of you first. You cannot fully help others unless you help yourself.

And because I'm an Aries, I'm going to list some actions here that may help you stay balanced when life seems anything but. Here are a few ideas that have worked for me. See what you think:

  • Put your phone on silent, including vibration, and turn off all alerts. Check your phone on your schedule--not every time it beeps or flashes at you. You're in charge of your phone, it is not in charge of you. And stop wearing an Apple watch. It's reeking havoc on your nervous system.

  • Remind yourself that not every text and email is an emergency. Pause. Prioritize. Wait to respond. Take your time. Take your power back. You are in charge of your time and energy, no one else (not even your boss or kids!!). This is also a practice in being present.

  • Limit your news intake. Our nervous systems were not built to handle the 24-hour news cycle. It's not healthy to be on constant high alert. (See: The Effects of Stress on Your Body)

  • Limit your Social Media intake. Most if it is highly toxic and vexatious to the spirit. Use your discernment and decide which platforms bring you joy and which need to be deleted. Then act accordingly. (Personally and professionally I am off both Facebook and Twitter.)

  • Quiet your mind every single day. Start with 10 minutes a day and choose a way that works for you. Try meditating, breathwork, restorative yoga, a walk outside, a warm bath with salts, listening to serene music, sing, dance, try float therapy, infrared sauna, reflexology, Reiki, or getting a massage. There's no one right way--it's right if it's meaningful to you.

  • Check in on your inner voice. Is it being supportive or sabotaging? What thoughts are rolling around in that beautiful head of yours? We know that thoughts create our reality, so pay attention to what you're saying to yourself. Adjust and add kindness as needed.

  • If you want to help heal the world, but feel overwhelmed about what to do, think small. That may seem counterintuitive, but even the smallest effort makes a difference. And if each of us made a small effort, the impact would be huge! You can donate money or time to a local charity in your town, write postcards to voters, vote in local, state, and national elections, join community organizations such as Kiwanis Club, Junior League, or Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few ideas.

Now get out there and welcome June in all her glory! Let the sun shine on you like the potted plant pictured above. Because even with all it's heartache, hardships, and heaviness, the world is still a beautiful place. With a grateful heart, Kristen

Did You Know? No previous Reiki experience is necessary, nor expected A large number of my clients are brand new to Reiki--they're trying it for the very first time. Some come in knowing very little about the healing modality and aren't sure what to expect from the session. And that's OK! Because I'm a certified Reiki Teacher, I'm prepared to explain what Reiki is, how it works, and what you may personally experience during your appointment. I make every effort to create a calm and comfortable environment where questions are always welcome and you're in control the entire time. My intention is that every session is for your highest and best good. Click below to read more about what to expect during your Reiki appointment. What I'm Up To

Recipes from the Heart

Cooking has always felt magical to me. You take a bunch of stuff, that on its own isn't particularly interesting, mix it together, and create something new and divine. That's energy. That's alchemy. That's magic.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps Here's a light and easy summer meal. It's as delicious as it is messy to eat. If you don't want to do the wraps, you can also serve this over rice. Yum!! Ingredients: 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil 1/2 white onion, finely chopped 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced 1 cup fresh mushrooms, cleaned and finely chopped 1 lb. ground chicken 1/2 red bell pepper, finely diced 1/2 yellow bell pepper, finely diced 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger 1 Tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped 1 Tablespoon green onions, finely sliced 3 Tablespoons soy sauce 3 Tablespoons hoisin sauce 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar 1 head fresh iceberg lettuce, cleaned, dried with leaves separated Directions:

  • Bring a large wok or deep skillet up to medium high heat.

  • Add vegetable oil, onions, and garlic and sauté 1-2 minutes until softened.

  • Add mushrooms, ground chicken, diced bell peppers, and ginger.

  • Cook, stirring constantly, on high heat 5 minutes, or until chicken is completely browned.

  • Drain liquid.

  • Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine.

  • Bring down to a simmer and cook 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Scoop hot chicken mixture into lettuce pieces. Roll up and enjoy! MORE RECIPES

Invite Magic to Your Event: Palo Alto Reiki is available for group events

Thank you to all who have booked private events with me! To date, I've helped create community and magic in many different ways, such as:

  • A birthday party on Zoom, with attendees in multiple countries, where I led a group meditation and personal card readings for all guests

  • A team building offsite for a local nonprofit (pictured) where I led a group Reiki session and discussed ways to protect your energy in the workplace

  • A bachelorette party where guests created a circle of positive energy for the bride-to-be and I pulling cards for all.

  • A private EnVision Board party at a home where the hostess invited close friends and served lunch. Email me if you have an event coming up and together we'll create exactly what you're looking for, either in person (within the Bay Area) or over Zoom anywhere in the world. Here's a 5 star review from Rachel in Minneapolis, MN "Kristen is a thoughtful and talented energy healer. I live out of state and had several remote Reiki and meditation sessions. Each session has been amazing, and I feel stronger and more in tune with myself. Kristen is a true gift, and I would encourage everyone to book a session with her!"
